My Name is Kristen, and I’m a Thrift Addict.

The title to this blog entry is only partially a joke. It’s been about five years since my first positive thrift store experience. Since that time, I’ve kind of been hooked. Thrift shopping is not for everyone. I understand that a lot of people think it’s gross. BUT my thing is – if something is looks/smells gross, DON’T BUY IT! It’s a really awesome way to recycle in my opinion! Don’t throw away that cute top from Gap, I’ll take it. You don’t like those Old Navy jeans?! Pass them my way! It’s a matter of looking for a good deal AND good items!

I love Goodwill in particular. In those last five years the company has changed a lot, and has become more shopper friendly. They size their clothing now (when I first started going to thrift stores it sometimes was not even separated by gender! You were lucky if it was sorted by color). They also price their clothing individually now (has it’s ups and downs when it comes to finding a really good designer).

My mom and I have made it our tradition to go out at least once a month to several of our favorite store. My mom was the first person to introduce me to thrift stores so I love this is how we work in some quality mother-daughter time. We usually go thrift shopping on a Wednesday or a Thursday, and that’s my only really good tip for thrift store shopping, go on those days! By the time Wednesday or Thursday has rolled around, the store volunteers/workers are just getting the stuff out that had been donated over the previous weekend (in most cases).

Another tip is to always have fun and look for stuff that makes you happy!

It’s almost a gaurentee you’ll find stuff you wouldn’t have known existed if it weren’t for that thrift store!

This was on our drive home after six thrift stores. Too pretty not to share!

And Clean up my favorite thrift store find of the day:
